The Shauri Moyo Farmer-Led Irrigation Development (FLID) initiative, supported by the Mwache Dam Project, is showing promising results as crops continue to establish well. Watermelons and other crops are developing steadily, offering hope for improved household incomes and enhanced economic growth for farmers.
Beyond boosting agricultural productivity, the initiative promotes sustainable land-use practices in the upper Mwache Catchment, helping reduce soil erosion and siltation in the Mwache River.
This helps preserve the future storage capacity of the Mwache Dam Reservoir, supports its long-term sustainability, and ensures reliable water resources for generations to come
