✅Empowering Women Through Inclusion

Sanitation and Community Health Initiatives

As part of its integrated approach, the project also supports community sanitation improvements:

Achievements:

✅27 villages targeted for Open Defecation Free (ODF) status

✅ 25 villages certified ODF by a third-party between 2017 and 2019

✅ 2 villages verified ODF by sub-county officials

✅ The remaining villages are currently in the post-triggering follow-up phase in which women play a vital role in the project, making up 80% of the trained farmers. Their participation is also notable in WRUA activities, ODF initiatives, and school WASH programs.

✅ Sustainable Land & Water Management - An additional 230 hectares have been brought under sustainable land and water management practices, ensuring long-term environmental resilience.

✅ Environmental Protection

✅ The Environmental and Social Management Plan is actively guiding the project’s implementation to promote sustainability and inclusiveness throughout its lifecycle.
