Stakeholder Engagement
Regular consultations with communities, local leaders, NGOs, farmers’ groups, and government agencies. Frequent meetings with Siaya and Busia counties, as well as bi-weekly World Bank/project meetings, ensure ongoing collaboration and alignment with project objectives.
Public Awareness Campaign
Information on the project’s goals, benefits, and progress is shared through community meetings, newsletters, toll-free numbers, posters, flyers, media coverage and video documentaries. This helps ensure all stakeholders are informed and involved.
Transparency and Accountability
Consistent updates on project developments, challenges, and Resettlement Action Plan (RAP) implementation through public forums, media, and regular project reports to maintain trust and accountability.
Capacity Building
The project equips farmers with skills in modern irrigation techniques and agribusiness to boost productivity and sustainability. Training is supported through demonstration farms and hands-on extension services by the project and Siaya and Busia County agriculture technical staff. To enhance understanding and accessibility, learning materials have been developed in local languages, ensuring inclusive knowledge transfer across communities.
Safeguarding and Protection Measures
Integrated efforts to prevent Gender-Based Violence (GBV), Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (SEAH), and Violence Against Children (VAC) include community sensitization, the establishment of trained focal persons, a 24/7 toll-free reporting line, grievance redress committees, and murals in 36 schools to enhance awareness and reporting.
Collaborating with Project Financiers
Ongoing support and feedback from project financiers World Bank, KWTF and Governemnt of Kenya quarterly support missions ensure alignment with project objectives and continuous improvement.
